TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply roofing membrane widely used on low-slope buildings and is one of the fastest-growing commercial roofing systems on the market. TPO is available in multiple colors and in three thicknesses, 45, 60 and 80 Mils. TPO can be installed either fully adhered or mechanically attached and are a single layer of synthetics and reinforcing scrim. Seams of the roofing system are sealed by using a hot-air gun to heat weld the seams together.
TPO has gained commercial roofing industry acceptance with its naturally reflective surface to reflect UV rays and heat from the building, saving money during the summer months from decreased energy usage to cool the buildings interior. The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) reported that TPO takes up about 40% of the commercial roofing market share.
